Your Questions About Photography, Copywriting & Creative Support

You know your business is good, but perhaps your photos feel out of date, your website needs some attention or the words aren’t quite saying what you mean.

You might not know exactly what kind of support you need yet, and that’s completely okay. Here are some of the questions people often have about brand photography, copywriting, website updates and creative support, along with a few simple answers to help you work out where to begin.

Finding the right support

I know something isn’t working, but I’m not sure what help I need. Where do we start?

You don’t need to arrive with a finished plan or know exactly which service to ask for. We can start with a relaxed conversation about your business, what feels out of date or disconnected and what’s currently taking up too much of your time.

I’ll help you work out what would make the biggest difference, whether that’s fresh brand photography, clearer website copy, a website tidy-up or some ongoing creative support.

Can you help if my photos, words and website all feel disconnected?

Yes. Your photographs, words and website all shape how people see your business, so it makes sense to look at them together.

Because I work across brand photography, copywriting, website content and creative support, I can look at the whole picture, spot what isn’t quite working and help everything feel more consistent, polished and recognisably you. It also means you have one person helping you pull the pieces together, rather than having to coordinate several different people.

Can I book a one-off project, or do you offer ongoing support?

Both. You can book Calmé for a one-off project, such as a brand photography session, fresh website copy or a website tidy-up.

If you’d prefer regular help keeping everything fresh and up to date, I also offer ongoing creative support. This can bring together photography, content planning, copy and website updates, depending on what your business actually needs.

Brand photography

What is brand photography?

Brand photography is a collection of professional images that shows the people, personality and story behind your business.

Rather than giving you only one formal headshot, a brand photography session can include natural portraits, photographs of you working, your team, workplace, products and the little details that make your business feel like yours. The result is a useful bank of images for your website, LinkedIn, social media and wider marketing.

What’s the difference between brand photography and a headshot?

A headshot is usually one professional portrait, often used for your LinkedIn profile, website or company biography.

Brand photography tells more of the story. It includes portraits, but also captures you working, interacting with clients, your surroundings and the details behind what you do. This gives you a more varied collection of natural business photographs to use across your website, social media and marketing.

What if I hate having my photograph taken?

You’re definitely not alone. Most people I work with tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera, so my sessions are relaxed, friendly and never overly posed.

I’ll gently guide you throughout, keep things moving naturally and give you plenty of time to settle in. The aim isn’t to make you look like someone else. It’s to create natural, professional photographs that feel comfortable, confident and recognisably you.

What should I wear for a brand photography session?

Choose clothes that feel like you and reflect how you would normally present yourself to your clients. Comfortable outfits in colours that work well with your brand are usually a good place to start.

Depending on the length of your session, you can bring a few options or simple layers to create more variety without needing a complete outfit change. We’ll talk everything through beforehand, so you won’t be left trying to work it all out by yourself.

Where can I use my brand photographs?

Your photographs can be used across your website, LinkedIn, social media, Google Business Profile, printed marketing, presentations and anywhere else you need to show the people and personality behind your business.

I’ll aim to create a varied collection, including profile-friendly portraits, natural working images and wider photographs with space for text. This makes it easier to keep showing up without relying on the same image every time.

Do you only offer personal brand photography?

Not at all. Alongside personal brand photography and natural headshots, I photograph teams, workplaces, events, commercial projects, interiors and the people behind a business.

I also work with construction, property, hospitality, rural and agricultural businesses to capture completed work, behind-the-scenes moments, spaces, animals and the details that help tell their story. Every session is planned around how and where the photographs will actually be used.

What types of commercial photography do you offer?

I offer commercial photography for businesses that want to show their people, spaces, projects and work more professionally.

This can include completed construction and property projects, interiors, installations, signage, exhibition stands, workplaces, products in use and behind-the-scenes activity. I also photograph hotels, venues, events and rural or agricultural businesses.

Each shoot is planned around what makes your business worth choosing and where the images will be used, giving you a polished collection for your website, case studies, social media, press, award entries and wider marketing.

Do you offer event photography?

Yes. I photograph business events, conferences, networking events, workshops, launches, awards, charity events and community occasions across Scotland.

I work in a natural and unobtrusive way, capturing the people, conversations, details and atmosphere without making the event feel staged. You’ll receive a varied collection of professionally edited images to use for follow-up content, LinkedIn, newsletters, press, sponsor updates and promoting your next event.

Event galleries are normally delivered within seven days.

Words and website support

Do I need a completely new website, or can you improve the one I already have?

Not every business needs to start again. Sometimes clearer words, fresher photographs and a thoughtful tidy-up are enough to make an existing website feel much more polished, current and easier to use.

I can review what you already have, identify what isn’t quite working and help you decide whether updating the existing website or creating something new would make the most sense. I’ll always suggest what your business actually needs, without making the project bigger or more complicated than it has to be.

Can you update my existing website?

Yes. I can work with a range of website platforms and content management systems, helping with everything from changing photographs and rewriting pages to uploading new content, improving layouts and tidying up anything that feels out of date.

We can have a look at how your current website is set up and chat about the support you need.

Website support can be booked as a one-off refresh or included within ongoing creative support if you’d like help keeping everything current over time.

Can you write or refresh the words on my website?

Yes. If you know what you want to say but can’t quite find the right words, I can help turn your ideas into clear, natural website copy that sounds like you and makes sense to the people you want to reach.

I can write new website pages or refresh existing copy that feels unclear, outdated or no longer reflects your business. I’ll also think about page structure, search-friendly wording and what you want visitors to do next.

Can you help if my website isn’t bringing in enquiries?

Yes. I can look at how clearly your website explains what you do, who you help and what visitors should do next.

Sometimes a few thoughtful changes to the words, photographs, page layout, navigation or calls to action can make a website feel clearer and easier to use. I can also review the on-page SEO, including headings, page titles, descriptions, image alt text and location wording, helping search engines understand what you offer and where you work.

I’ll help you make practical improvements without immediately assuming the whole website needs rebuilt.

Ongoing creative support

What can you help with each month?

Ongoing support is shaped around your business, so it won’t look exactly the same for everyone.

It might include regular photography, planning and writing content, refreshing website pages, selecting and organising images, updating your LinkedIn presence or simply helping you work through the creative jobs that keep falling to the bottom of your list.

The aim is to keep your business looking fresh, polished and up to date, while giving you one less thing to think about.

Can you help me show up more consistently on LinkedIn?

Yes. If LinkedIn keeps slipping down your list, I can help you decide what to talk about, plan useful posts, write captions in a voice that still sounds like you and choose the right photographs to go with them.

I can also help tidy up your LinkedIn profile so the words and images clearly reflect who you are, what you do and the people you want to reach. The aim is to make showing up feel easier and more manageable, rather than giving you another complicated content plan to follow.

Working together

How much does it cost to work with Calmé?

Every business and project is a little different, so my prices are starting points rather than rigid packages.

Brand photography, commercial photography, event photography and copywriting start from £295. One-off creative support starts from £495, and ongoing monthly support starts from £395.

Once I understand what you need, I’ll suggest the most useful way to work together and give you a clear price before anything begins. You’ll never be asked to pay for support your business doesn’t need.

You can also view the full pricing guide for more information.

Where are you based, and which areas do you cover?

I’m based between Dunfermline in Fife and the Biggar area in South Lanarkshire, working with businesses across both areas.

I also regularly travel throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians, Lanarkshire, Glasgow and further afield across Scotland for brand photography, business headshots, commercial projects and events.

Copywriting, website support and many other creative projects can also be delivered remotely, so you don’t need to be nearby to work with me.

How do we get started?

We’ll start with a relaxed chat about your business, what isn’t feeling quite right and what you’d like to improve.

You don’t need to prepare a detailed brief or decide which service you need beforehand. Just tell me what keeps getting pushed down your list, and I’ll help you work out a clear and manageable place to begin.

Get in touch and let’s figure it out together.
